Leonberg, 7th February 2025 – On 19th March 2025, the Hoffnungsträger Foundation, in collaboration with the Friedens- und Gospelkirche (Peace and Gospel Church) Stuttgart, invites you to a special event. The author and artist Mahbuba Maqsoodi will read from her autobiographical book “Der Tropfen weiß nichts vom Meer” (The Drop Knows Nothing of the Sea), in which she recounts her personal story of flight, arrival and a new beginning.
Mahbuba Maqsoodi, who was born in Afghanistan, has been campaigning for women’s rights and intercultural exchange for many years. Her life story not only offers an insight into personal experiences, but also sheds light on societal challenges and the opportunities for respectful coexistence.
In addition to the reading, Mahbuba Maqsoodi will speak in an interfaith interview about the importance of mutual understanding, reconciliation and dialogue. This conversation creates space for deeper insights and invites the audience to reflect on the role of faith in a diverse society.

About Hoffnungsträger
The Hoffnungsträger Foundation was founded in 2013 by Tobias Merckle and has set itself the goal of turning many people into bearers of hope. Since its foundation, under the leadership of Marcus Witzke, integrative housing projects such as the Hoffnungshaus® as well as international programmes for the rehabilitation of offenders and their children have been established. The group now comprises Hoffnungsträger Projektentwickler GmbH, Hoffnungsträger Global Impact and Rosskopf + Partner (since 2021). Furthermore, the subsidiary Sinngeber, operating under the umbrella of the Hoffnungsträger Group, facilitates values-based philanthropy for high-net-worth individuals who wish to support social transformation through their commitment.
Through its diverse programmes, Hoffnungsträger demonstrates how systemic thinking, helping people to help themselves, and action for the common good, in conjunction with social innovation, can bring about sustainable change. At the heart of its work lie charity, active and sustainable integration, and the gift of hope and prospects – these form the foundation for a sustainable and solidarity-based society.
