Securing long-term impact: charitable purposes, donor intent and opportunities for involvement will be preserved within a strong and sustainable structure

Leonberg, 23 July 2026 – Isaak Stiftung is to transfer its full foundation assets to Hoffnungsträger Stiftung and will cease to operate as an independent foundation. Its existing charitable purposes and funding priorities will be continued over the long term by Sinngeber under the umbrella of Hoffnungsträger Stiftung.

At the heart of the decision was the question of how Isaak Stiftung’s charitable purposes could continue to be fulfilled permanently, effectively and on an economically sustainable basis under changing conditions. In particular, Isaak Stiftung had faced challenges in appointing the governing bodies required under foundation law.

After carefully reviewing various options and working closely with the responsible regional authorities, those involved decided in favour of transferring Isaak Stiftung’s assets to Hoffnungsträger Stiftung.

This type of asset transfer makes it possible to move the assets of one foundation into an already existing foundation. Foundation law thus provides a way to permanently secure the fulfilment of the foundation’s purposes while making use of effective administrative and governance structures. The original donor intent remains decisive. The responsible authorities and bodies are closely involved in the implementation process.

“In a decision like this, the primary question is not whether an independent organisational form is preserved. What matters is that a foundation’s life’s work is safeguarded and its social impact secured for the long term,” says Michael Schmid, Managing Director of Sinngeber gGmbH, who has professionally supported the process. “A transfer of this kind can be a responsible and forward-looking solution.”

Sinngeber helps ensure that Isaak Stiftung’s charitable purposes will continue to be fulfilled on a permanent basis once the assets have been transferred to Hoffnungsträger Stiftung. This preserves the existing funding priorities, while administrative tasks can be bundled and resources focused more strongly on charitable work. The circle of friends of Isaak Stiftung will continue to be involved in maintaining relationships with the funding recipients.

The decision was prepared through a comprehensive strategic and legal process. This included analysing the initial situation and the existing foundation statutes, assessing different options for the future, and coordinating the legal, tax and supervisory implementation. The necessary steps were agreed with the foundation bodies involved as well as with the responsible authorities and institutions.

Sinngeber supported those involved from the strategic decision-making process and the coordination of the legal and organisational implementation through to preparing the integration into the receiving foundation. Sinngeber will also continue to provide advisory and operational support in shaping future funding activities and the associated opportunities for involvement.

“Addressing questions of succession, governance and economic sustainability at an early stage and with an open mind can open up new perspectives. The transfer of Isaak Stiftung shows how donor intent, foundation assets and funding impact can be secured for the long term within a sustainable structure,” says Michael Schmid.

With this transfer, Isaak Stiftung and Hoffnungsträger Stiftung are setting an example for the forward-looking development of philanthropic engagement.
